Kolkata: A fish seller in a local market to a havildar in CRPF, Bablu Santra’s journey from the bylanes of Bauria in Howrah to CRPF was always strewn with thorns. His demise was no exception.

Bablu Santra’s (39) struggle started at the age of 13 when he lost his father. He started selling fish in the local market in Uluberia from a young age to run his family. He completed his Class XII Board examination while selling fish and bringing up four sisters and one daughter.

Bablu is survived by his wife and daughter (6), mother, a brother and sisters. Resident of Bauria Chak kashi village in Howrah district of West Bengal, Bablu had come to West Bengal in December last year to celebrate his daughter’s birthday and stayed for 15 days.
